With a turnover of more than 30 billion euros, the advertising industry is a fundamental driver of the German economy.  It generates growth and underpins jobs.  Advertising is important for the survival of all brands and products, since each brand has to be able to inform the consumer about their very specific characteristics and advantages.  Advertising creates competition, stimulates innovative activity by businesses and helps to orient the consumer in the wide selection of goods. Markenverband therefore has a constant concern for freedom of communication and rejects advertising restrictions or even advertising bans as a wrong regulatory tool.
